Masala Chai
INGREDIENTS
150 ml milk, 100 ml water, 2 tsp tea powder, 2 tsp sugar, ½ tsp saffron , powder, ½ tsp nutmeg powder, 1 tbsp ginger (freshly grated), 10 mint leaves
METHOD
• Boil the water in a saucepan and add grated ginger and nutmeg powder.
• Let it boil for a minute, then add the tea powder and milk and boil it on low heat.
• Add sugar and saffron powder and again boil for a while.
• Finally add mint leaves and remove it from heat.
• Strain and serve hot with Urad Dal Pakori.
Urad Dal Pakori
INGREDIENTS
100 g polished urad dal, 2 green chillies, finely chopped, 2 tbsp coriander leaves, finely chopped, salt to taste, refined oil, for frying
METHOD
• Soak the urad dal in water for 30 minutes.
• Strain the water and blend it once to grind it coarsely.
• Put the batter into a mixing bowl, add salt and chopped green chillies and coriander and mix well.
• Divide the mixture into small roundels and deep fry in hot oil until golden brown in colour.
• Serve it hot with masala chai.
