Prepping for your wedding can be demanding and stressful; and falling back on stimulants such as coffee and alcohol can be tempting. Instead, you must take charge and detox your system to look and feel stunning on D-day. Here’s a top-to-toe rejuvenation tailor-made just for you.
Days 1 and 2
Go for fruits and uncooked vegetables; add three bowls of vegetable soup to your diet.
Select any two of these fresh fruits you prefer eating every three hours—apple, orange, pomegranate, grapefruit and melon.
Add a bowl of salad for both lunch and dinner consisting of cucumber, tomato, lettuce, grated carrot, spinach. Add a pinch of salt, pepper and lemon juice as salad dressing if you like.
Days 3, 4 and 5
Add two boiled/baked potatoes and cooked vegetables to the diet of days 1 and 2.
Ingredients for cooked vegetables: Use one tsp olive oil (for the entire day). You can use any vegetables of your choice, but avoid potato.
Eat one bowl of cooked veggies mid-morning, noon and night. Subsequently, you can replace the soup with cooked vegetables or consume both, depending on your appetite and what you like.
You can eat the two potatoes during any time of the day.
Days 6 and 7
Add four chapattis to the diet of days 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.
Wheat delight! Add two chapattis to your diet for the rest of the days, without oil/butter or ghee, for lunch and dinner.
Returning to a regular diet
Returning to a regular eating pattern is a significant aspect of the cleansing diet. Do this slowly. Gradually reintroduce foods that were not included in the detox diet. It is essential to add more foods, but progressively, while getting back to your regular eating habits. The transition should be carefully planned to avoid any discomfort or damage.
Avoid red meat, fried foods, desserts and other hard-to-digest foods for at least seven to 10 days after the cleansing process. This way, you are giving your body time to adapt to foods. Or else, the body can suddenly go into a state of shock with the overload of work on the digestive system.
