Working Wonders

When a woman has a full-time job with demanding hours, trips to a parlour can become a mundane chore that is best left avoided. To overcome that, Anvita Ramakrishna lists somequick fixes here and there that can help you feel prim and proper for a few more weeks!

Every girl faces the struggle of having to go to a parlour to get waxed or a facial, a manicure or a pedicure but is often not able to owing to a a time crunch or on account of being low on energy over the weekend. However, a few treatments or long-term fixes can help you feel groomed for an additional period of time! Here are some ways you can hack around your routine and still feel beautiful.

Hair woes be gone

Unwanted body hair can be a girl’s worst nightmare! Going to the parlour to get a full-body wax takes a lot of time, which many women aren’t able to carve out from their packed schedules. Laser hair removal is a great option for those who are looking at a long-term hair removal method; you won’t have to think about waxing for years! However, make sure you consult a well-known doctor or dermatologist for the best and quickest way of permanent hair removal, as it can lead to gruesome side effects, when not done under proper guidance.

Treat your tresses

On the other hand, your tresses require high maintenance and this is where hair treatments and extensions can help. Hair extensions are preferred by women who either cannot grow their hair long or don’t want to dye their hair. “Hair extensions add volume and length to your hair and you can also customise it according to colour. They last for a good three-four months and don’t require a lot of maintenance,” says Sunil Sharma, Art Director, Juice Salon, Mumbai. If you want to embrace your natural hair length, Sunil recommends trying out a Cysteine hair treatment, as it adds lustre and life to your hair and keeps frizziness at bay. They also straighten and strengthen your hair and don’t wash off with every time you shampoo.

Nailing it

Putting on nail polish and waiting for it to dry is the worst experience every girl faces! Falling back on nail extensions such as acrylic nails is a good idea, since they add length to your nails and you will not have to go through the agony of having to paint them. “These extensions last for a little over a month and can be easily replaced with a new style every time,” says Samiya Khan, Junior Manager, Juice Salon, Mumbai. Acrylic nail paint also doesn’t chip fast, so you’re sure to save up on some big bucks!

Pamper yourself

After a long day, everyone wants to feel refreshed and relaxed before they face the next day. A wholesome yet time-consuming facial can only happen on weekends, but it can feel like a waste of time for women on the go. Rashi Bahel Mehra, Founder of Alanna, believes in natural remedies that can help working women take care of their skin.
“While most working women don’t have time to go to a salon or stick to a proper skincare regime, they can always apply a face mask when doing daily chores in the kitchen by applying besan and curd, or lemon juice and honey, to get a quick glow on the skin as well as keep it healthy and moisturised,” she says.
She also states that a multitasking woman should have products that target more than one problem as well. “For instance, a cleanser-cum-exfoliating face wash, wet wipes with natural extracts, sunscreen- cum-moisturiser, body-cum-face cleanser or body- cum-face scrub, are the kind of products one should look out for. Products with more than one benefit, such as a detox scrub with anti-tanning agents, that not only removes acne, but moisturizes the skin on account of the oils in it, or our night miracle serum that works on your skin while you are asleep and not only de-tans your skin but brightens it up overall, should be on top of our minds.”

Ace your face

When it comes to make-up, there may be no time to do a full face every time, but a few basic steps can save the day. Ivorie, Resident Trainer, Colorbar, recommends always moisturising your face and using a primer before applying make-up so you can skimp on touch-ups. She also suggests using a BB or CC cream or a compact and investing in a good kajal and mascara. “The best thing about kajal is that it can be a simple line that defines your eyes or can be smudged into a smokey eye depending on the occasion,” she adds. The whole look can be tied together with a matte lipstick and some blush to add colour to your cheeks

Work can never take a back-seat, but neither should your well-being! So, now you can efficiently feel confident without having to make any sacrifices.
